I’ve never bern to a place like this and am so happy Kota Tinggi Firefly Park is out there in the world. it’s kind of off the beaten path too and feels like it’s a hidden secret which makes the whole experience even more magical.

You arrive and are given life jackets and then board the bumboat for the cruise. It is totally dark the whole time on the boat (no lights used, except once to signal when another boat came past) which creates an atmosphere of cruising into the unknown and not knowing just what might happen. The fireflies are spectacular. I’ve never seen anything like them. Pictures won’t do them justice as ordinary cameras don’t pick them up so put them away and enjoy. The driver stops close to the trees the fireflies are in so you can see them up close. It’s like a light show happening right in front of you, like something out of Avatar if you will, fairy lights one after the other down the river. It was also interesting how some trees had no fireflies and others were swarming with them.

On the way back the guide pointed out a monkey and a monitor (large lizard) with his flashlight up in the treetops and we got a chance to have a look.

And I have to say, the customer service was second to none. I contacted the park via Facebook messenger and they quickly responded with tour times & details, arranged a driver to take me to and from the park, and put me in direct with him via Whatsapp. They took all the hassle away. The trip from Johor Bahru to Kota Tinggi and back including the Firefly Cruise ticket cost 200 MYR (AUD 70) which was great value given its a 45 minute drive one way and I had my own driver.

This was a wonderful experience and Kota Tinggi Firefly Park is worth going out of your way to visit.

Its was great and relaxing experience. I made reservation through phone. I was assisted by Michelle who is very friendly and suggested to us the timing for the trip for us to have the best experience. We reached on time as adviced and bought out tickets.

After enjoyed few photo clicks around the place, we were allowed to board the boat at 7.40pm sharp. The COVID SOP on was well followed. Everyone required to wear mask and regoster prior entering.

Michelle gave brief explanation on do and donts on the board in various language in order for everyone to understand. Everyone given life jackets and I notice the boat and condition of the life jackets are veru clean.

The boatman tried his best to show the best scenery and even highlighted a monitor lizard which was sitting on the tree branch.

Only sad part is the attitude of the people who still takes picture with flashes before advice by boatman not to do so. Some tries to catch the firefly and i even noticed a guys caught it by hand. Advice people to be nice to the nature. To those bringing kids try to show good example to them by doing you should do and try not make so much noises to make everyone have pleasant journey.

The lighting conditions were excellent so I was able to see A LOT of fireflies. It's like seeing magical Christmas lights through the trees. The staff here are so amazing and kind and helpful. I'm a solo traveller so it can be hard to take pictures of myself but they offered and were just so welcoming and accommodating from the second I got there! Even pointing out fireflies from the boat when they were harder to see. Highly recommend. 😀

I also recommend getting a wishing lantern (8RM) which you can release and a love lock (10RM) which you can lock onto the fence by the river.

Firefly River cruise is a magical sight seeing in nights . Thanks to the friendly staff for warm welcome and fast response . Hopefully will come again in future .

Such a magical experience. Definitely recommended for kids and couples. You have many opportunities to get really close to the fireflies. You may not be able to get good pictures in the dark but the experience is worth it. Thank you to the staff and boat rider who were very friendly and nice.

Whole experience was fantastic! From transport pick up --> meet & greet by staffs upon arrival at firefly park --> keeping us occupied with the love lock and helped with photographs taking before the cruise as we reached early --> wrapped up with Sky Lantern!

Cruise tickets can be reserved and transportation can be arranged in advance [if needed] through whatsapp or Facebook messenger.

Car driver's service was good and journey was smooth and pleasant. Driver was very patient and shared places of interest with us. He even sent us to our dinner place after the firefly cruise, and willing to wait for us before sending us back to hotel.

Staffs at firefly park were great - friendly staffs and warm welcome from them. Helped with photo taking too.

Overall, very happy and satisfied with my maiden firefly cruise =)

Contacted Michelle to arrange for a trip to the park. She helped to book the tickets as well as arrange for transport to the place. Very efficient and fast.

I think we are very lucky to be able to see many many fireflies during the boat ride. The boatman also shared with us some facts about the fireflies. In addition, on the return trip, he also shone torch to show us the sleeping chameleon and the fruits of the trees where the fireflies were found. One important thing, there isn’t mosquitoes on the boat, only at the waiting area which is normal.

There’s also sky lantern that you can write your wishes and let go into the sky. Overall a worthwhile visit

One of the best visits I had for fireflies! The trip takes about 40 min with the knowledgeable and skilful uncle driving boat to let us see the fireflies. He drove the boat so close to the fireflies that the kids got such a good experience!
It's even better than the other vendors that I had been to.

we went there in a group of 10 consisting of all range of age group. the services were really good and prompt response via messenger. the operator was really informative and he tried to go as near as possible to let us look closer. it was really beautiful like shining xmas tree but the operator said it wasnt as much as some periods. and he even showed us a group of monkeys sleeping in the branches and iguana too. we really enjoyed the trip and definitely a fun and beautiful experience. a must go if you are in kota tinggi or desaru

A little hidden gem of an activity that we all really enjoyed. Plenty of fireflies to experience in the trees around the lake/river which we all enjoyed with the added bonus of monkeys and lizards sleeping in the trees too. Glad experience with the good services staff..we take a pantoon boat with cover and go tour around the river jungle..Thanks God that we still can make it as raining the trip postpone a bit late as normal trip 730pm daily. It will let you catch the fireflies when the pantoon stop there closer to fireflies..after boating, you can buy wishes lantern to play with..Good memorable for your trip..rating 5 stars..

The owner was very kind and helpful, we arrived early so she suggested we go to have dinner as it could be a long wait before the sun has fully set. The boat captain also explain facts on the boat ride and even show us a few animals like monkeys and lizards living at the river, not at all rushing back to pick up new customers so we could fully enjoy ourselves. If you plan to arrive early to take photos at 6ish do bring mosquito repellent but there is no mosquito on the boat.

Was there with a family of 5 on 17 Jun 2019 after a pretty heavy rain in the evening. The park operator was kind enough to bring us only my family out for the cruise as we have waited quite a while for the rain to stop. The cruise experience was excellent for both adults and children who live in urban jungle 🙂
Besides the extensive beautiful "fairy" lights which we were fortunate to witness on the riverside, the cruise operator also showed us the monkeys and monitor lizards which were sleeping in the trees along the riverside. An excellent experience for the family and highly recommended for those who wish to experience nature!

Nice place run by nice people. You know they care about their work when their brochure is printed in so many different languages. The boat trip was very relaxing, they brought us to all the good firefly spots and it was definitely worth the visit. Their restaurant up the road is pretty good too if you like cantonese food.

Traveled here for special night for our kid who saw plenty of fireflies! It was a great tour with the boater bringing us round to stop at all the fireflies spot! He was also very experienced and showed us monkeys, monitor lizards as well as owls which we were not lucky enough to see! Michelle is really lovely and you may what's app her to book the tours! My 2 year old boy enjoyed the experience!
